Our 1st Annual Halloween Candy Buy-Back was a success!

We collected 200lbs of candy and were able to present Civic Concern with a $200 check to help them feed and cloth local families in the community. The candy will be shipped to Operation Gratitude to be distributed among care packages for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Thank you everyone who gave up their Halloween treats for this wonderful cause.

Rangel Orthodontics

1st Annual Halloween Candy Buy-Back

In an effort to promote a safe and healthy Halloween for children, Rangel Orthodontics will pay $1 for each pound of Halloween treats collected. In addition, Dr. Rangel will donate $1 for each pound collected to a local charity.

"Halloween is a fun holiday for kids of all ages,” said Dr. Rangel "But too much candy can contribute to tooth decay. And for people who wear braces, eating sticky or chewy candies can harm their braces and may lengthen their orthodontic treatment."

Dr. Rangel recommends that children who wear braces avoid such snacks as caramel, nuts, hard candies and bubblegum. He also advises patients to steer away from popcorn (especially, un-popped kernels), and hard pretzels.

"Soft candies like milk chocolate or other melt-in-your-mouth varieties are acceptable in moderation,” he said. "In addition, regular brushing and flossing are essential parts of good dental care for everyone, but especially for those who wear braces."
